Whimsical Leaf Stamps
Leaves are such a fun motif you can use them for any occasion. Transform a simple leaf shape into some fun whimsical foam stamp designs that you can color to suit any season or theme.
All you’ll need for this project are some scissors, self adhesive foam sheets and foam board cut to size and a few punches or die cuts. A dull wooden pencil is the perfect tool for embossing deep long lasting impressions on your foam sheet.
Make a few leaf templates from packaging that you can trace for mass making. Cut your foam board to size allowing enough space around the edges to fit your foam sheet stamp. Remove the paper from the back and front of your foam board. Draw or trace your leaf shape onto your foam sheet and cut out. Use punches, die cuts or a pencil to enhance. Peel off the adhesive back and apply to your foam board. If using die cuts make two leaves, one solid and layer on your foam board to get a good impression when stamping.
Stamp with markers, ink, watercolors or acrylics. Try mixed media too. Use one color or a variety on each stamp. Make an extra set for gelli plate printing. Hold your stamp up to the light and gently trace an outline on the back for for easier placement.
